Dorin Park School
The ‘Try Dive’ sessions take place in the school’s hydrotherapy pool which is approximately 1 Metre deep, providing a safe environment in which the pupils can experience something completely new. These sessions are delivered by qualified instructors and the club adheres to BSAC’s Welfare Policy and all instructors have had Disclosure and Barring Checks completed on them and these details are provided to the school. Forty one pupils had the opportunity to experience swimming around the hydrotherapy pool wearing full SCUBA equipment, full face masks and full face snorkels. These are particularly valuable when pupils because of their complex needs are unable to retain a normal regulator mouthpiece. These sessions complement the schools ethos of promoting personal development and achievement. As one pupil said after the ‘Try Dive’ session, “today has been the best day of my life”. Seeing the pupils do things unimaginable by their parents and school staff with such enthusiasm and joy makes all the effort put in by FSAC club members worthwhile in order to make the pupils dreams come true.
